Now back to business. I've got little art treat for you.

Last month Venus and K. Hinto had an art party at Bisogno Espresso Bar.

People came out to support, talking about art, life, and just about anything.
Last night, during the closing of the event it was a bit of the same. Cool conversations, great people, excellent art, some wine, coffee, espressos and snacks.
The following are photos from both nights. Both nights were from 6-9pm and people came and went throughout the evening.
Now I know very little about painting, artists, and the time period famous works. Granted, I get a crash course every now and then from Venus, but I'm no curator.
But I quickly discovered that you didn't need to speak technically about a piece of work. It's simply about knowing what you like. You see a piece of work and it speaks to you or it doesn't. Maybe its the colour, the lines, the images, or maybe you just don't know why.
To me this event was about getting together with people and having the art around you.
"...getting used to art in your personal space, and having it influence that moment in your life." - Venus
A lot of times people weren't talking about art.
Its about the experience in that moment. Which is why I didn't include a lot of straight shots of paintings. The event is the experience, and if you were not there looking at the paintings, seeing the texture, listening to the opinions of others and/or discussing a particular painting with the artist themselves. Looking at a photograph of a painting on your computer screen does the moment an injustice.
I think the next party I throw is going to be an art event. An art party, where people can meet new people, catch up with old friends, talk about the art, and anything under the sun.
And if I've learnt anything from this experience, it's that nothing says art show like complimentary wine and Baileys in your coffee.

TGATMAR is now my favourite online source of news about what happens near art. Nice pics too, feels like I was there.
